I was privileged to recently be able to sit down with Marty Taylor, the Executive Director of Media Design and Technology at Northland Church (Located in Orlando, Fl) and ask him a few questions pertinent to his role.  I posted a few exerts from or dialog together. (Marty’s responses have been paraphrased and therefore are not direct quotes):
BA: What does the Sunday service creative process look like at Northland?
MT: It’s a collaborative effort between the teaching pastor, media, worship and others who primarily focus on Sundays. Â We usually work towards finalizing elements of that weeks message and move towards going over concepts for the coming week’s message. Â We focus pulling the one word or takeaway that the Pastor has in mind for a particular service and build concepts and themes around that. Â At that point a weekend architect is given the duties of putting the service order together.
BA: Â What do you do to stay keep up with the industry?
MT: I read lots of blogs.  I don’t concern myself with always  having the latest technology.  If you have a system in place that is high on the technology side and low on the volunteer understanding side you will have a problem where your team(s) will not be able to utilize a system you have implemented.
Another Helpful interview with Marty from LiveDesignOnline.
