Most of us have read this particular scripture before. Â We have probably even seen it posted on a wall before; but more importantly we have even sought this verse out or perhaps even clung to it in times of difficulty. Â I came across this verse this morning during my devotion time and wanted to share some thoughts that came to mind.
In dealing with every day life, I believe that most of us have been conditioned to look ‘up’. Â Looking towards God or even looking towards Heaven for direction and guidance. Â Often times we arrive at this place because of a major life event asking the questions ‘why?’. Â Let us consider the verse. Â God’s Word is a lamp (illuminating direction) unto my feet AND a light unto my path. Â Breaking this down describes God’s Word (involvement) in my life now (light unto my feet), but also God’s continued involvement as a light unto my path (for years to come). Â There is comfort knowing that the creator of everything, the creator of you and I cares so deeply about us that He has purposed His very words to be our guide.
You see, you and I are not so different. Â We were designed to follow God. Â Do we get distracted…sure, do we run away in some cases…absolutely. Â In the end though, our direction in life and purpose are rooted in God. Â He has a plan for you and for me. Â So how do discover it? Â How do we determine it? Â It’s simple, take His Word, study it, and let it show us where we are…and where we need to go.
