Luke 2:6-7

6While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. 7And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

I am not sure about you, but there are times when I forget to connect the dots. You know, dot 1 and dot 2.  Dot 1 for me paints this picture of God that all powerful, all knowing and everywhere.  Dot 2 paints a picture of humbleness, sacrifice, and love.  To think that our all powerful God sent His son to be a sacrificial lamb is unbelievable.  I am not certain I would ever want to face a decision like that (with my own kids).

It is often said that when Jesus came in the flesh He came as a lamb.  Gentle, humble and as a sacrifice.  There is this other side to this child we see in the manger.  Being 100% man and 100% God, it is also said that when He returns again,  we will see Him as the lion of Judah.  The thing I have to remind myself of is that God, Jesus and Holy Spirit were not drawing straws to determine who got to be sacrificed.  It was predestined before the foundations of the world that Jesus would come.  That he would be born in Bethlehem as Micah 5:2 states.

The next time you and I think about Jesus as a baby in the manager let us remember how awesome it is for us to have a God like this…one who is willing to send His own son to our corrupt world.
