Okay, to be honest I was like..great here’s another set of ideas to get us out of debt and onto a budget. Â Outside of a car, house and my student loan we have no debt…so my initial approach to FPU was somewhat laid back. Â I’ve always been a numbers kind of person (my student loan can attest to this). Â Prior to working for a church, I have always maxed out my 401k and lived life with the end in mind. Â My personal goal was to retire at the age of 55 and if I ever had to wear diapers again I wanted to make sure I could afford the nice cloth all organic kind.
To be honest I have been pleasantly surprised by FPU and the material Dave Ramsey has provided. Â It’s hard hitting, frank, and is just the nuts and bolts (not a lot of filler). Â We are in week 7 of our 13 week program and I am admitting that I am learning quite a bit. Â There have been some great concepts introduced in the first 7 weeks that have made me re-evaluate my financial situation. Â I feel a bit more comfortable with some of the decision Kelli and I have made in the past few weeks, as I believe they will yield better results and ultimately provide us with a quality of life we wish to have.
If you are a skeptic of FPU I implore you to give it a try. Â You might be surprised at what you will learn. Â I am anxiously looking forward to the next 6 weeks…and beyond. Â We have a plan to pay off our house and truly be debt free in the coming years. Â Won’t that be AWESOME? Â Dave has a great slogan…”life like no one else so that later (in life) you can LIVE like no one else”
