This morning was just awesome! David Platt punched us in the spiritual gut! The students were challenged to consider that God is the creator and that we are not capable of doing what God can do or did.
He spent some time discussing temptation and made a strong case for the unseen spiritual war going on around us.
Here are some of the points that David Platt made:
We live in a spiritual world. If we could see this, our minds would be blown away.
There are conflicting kingdoms around us.
The stakes in this spiritual world are eternal.
Our involvement in this spiritual war is inevitable.
Three ways we are tempted:
1. We are tempted to fulfill our wants above Gods will.
Satan works at the point of your wants.
We have a desire to fulfill our desire outside of Gods will.
2. We are tempted to question Gods word/character to fulfill our desires.
Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ †Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ †(Matthew 4:5-7 NKJV)
3. We are tempted to settle for temporary pleasure instead of living for eternal treasure.
Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.†Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ †Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. (Matthew 4:8-11 NKJV)
I can’t wait to see how the tonight plays out. God is doing some amazing things here…can’t wait to have these students share what’s happening in their lives.
Continue to pray for our leaders and the students!
