Todays reading from 1 Chronicles 21:18-27 is spot on.  Giving something up (fasting) should cost us something.  I am encouraged by those of you who are doing this.  Prayer and Fasting is not ‘easy’ but it’s a spiritual discipline we can all learn to do better.  I pray that with-in your small groups or circle of friends you have the ability and confidence to talk through some of the struggles associated with fasting.  Perhaps you can even begin to share some of the joy too!  Yes I said joy.  Giving something up is not necessarily the antidote for materialism but it is a great way to remember that our Lord gave something up for us.  He gave His life so that we could be with Him forever.  I pray that Day 2 is amazing.  I pray that God would give us strength and more importantly I pray that God would us all clarity of direction for the things we are praying for.
