Week 1: Vacation, move and the unpack…

It has been a crazy two week.  We left Port St. Lucie on Wednesday October 20th and headed to Orlando (more specifically Walt Disney World) to enjoy a few days of rest.  Considering that the packing was done we felt that this was a great time for us to relax as a family.  We did just that…we did not go to any park.  In fact we checked into our cabin (Fort Wilderness) and did very little outside of swimming and eating.  The kids had a blast.  The high light of the trip was being selected ‘Family of the Day’ and escorting Chip and Dale at the night time camp fire…what can I say, I guess dreams do come true (insert Disney music).  The kids loved every moment of it 🙂 .

We left Orlando on Saturday October 24th to begin our drive to our new home and church.  We originally thought we would have to break the trip up into two days but the kids did so well driving we decided to push through.  We arrived in Indian Trail, NC around 7pm on Saturday to our home.  It was very nice and very empty.  The next day our truck arrived and so did several volunteers.  We were so blessed by the outpouring of help from our Southbrook Church Family.  We had the truck unpacked in a few hours and all of our larger items (furniture) in place by that afternoon.  I tip my hat to the staff and volunteers at Southbrook Church for welcoming us with such open arms…your generosity will never be forgotten.

Today we are going to hang out as a family and enjoy our nice fall temperatures.  Life is different in North Carolina (in a good way).  People are extremely nice and very relational.  The terrain is beautiful…and I love the single lane roads (with hills).  We have been blessed beyond our expectation.  I am often reminded of the day when I felt the  spirit nudging me to get this ball rolling…it was scary, but on this side of the step I can say it was well worth it.  I officially begin on Monday…however before we get that rolling I have GOT to get some more hill running in :)…it hurts so bad, but I LOVE it!
