It’s a new year and a time to focus on what God has called us to do for 2011.  I am excited for God has in store for the Southbrook Students.  We have a lot of our events planned as well as a good direction for what God would have us study over the next few months.  Tomorrow we are going to jump into a two study aimed at helping our Middle School students discover who they really are.  Tomorrow will focus on ‘who defines you’.  As you imagine we live a world where every slick marketers…that work overtime on marketing schemes to help us define who we should be.  God’s word is clear on where we should get our marching orders.  This message is essential in building up our middle school students…and I am very excited for small groups tomorrow.

For High School we are going to wrap up 1 John chapter 1.  John has made a pretty strong case for Christ against the Gnostics and tomorrow we will see how he points them directly to the blood of the cross.  No matter how involved we may be at church or how much we study God’s word,  we can’t ever forget about the simplicity of God’s grace and the cross.  I really want a coffee bar for our High School ministry…the question is do we use Starbucks or Peet’s coffee?
