This has been an interesting running season. Â We moved to North Carolina at the peak of my training for the 2011 Disney marathon. Â Although I was unable to participate this year due to the fact that I just did not have the time, I have continued training…somewhat :). Â Well Geoffrey has informed me that there is a Half-Marathon in March located right here in Charlotte. Â I love running half marathons. Â For me they are the perfect length. Â The full can be very rewarding…but the time expense for training takes its toll on the family and work. Â A half can be easily trained for and have traditionally (for me) been very fun to run. Â Seems like beginning the half way point at mile 6 can seems a lot easier than at mile 13.
In either event I have to learn to take the ‘rolling’ landscape …HILL’s a little more seriously. Â Perhaps I will get some hill workouts going. Â In Florida I did some speed work but never really felt it necessary to do hill training. Â Not sure if this was out of laziness…but in my defense there were no real local races with hills.
Well the race that I am doing is on March 12 (Saturday). Â It is the Alston & Bird Half-Marathon. Â I look forward to keeping you updated on my training.
