It’s not too often I find a little gadget that I like so much that I share it with you all. Â I came across this little unit about two weeks ago. Â Not quite sure how I landed on it, but I believe it had something to do with an ‘end of the world’ news report. Â I present to you the Sawyer Point Zero Two. This little guy/engineer/planner in me came across this little device and I immediately saw several opportunities for it’s use.
Essentially it is a water filter. Â It takes non-potable water, uses gravity to filter it down to 0.02 microns…which removes 99.9% of all bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and cysts. Â Having a family of 6 makes me think in grand terms…do I believe God will protect us? Â Absolutely! Â Do I still like geek gadgets? Â Absolutely!
This device not only has obvious uses such as a scenario where freshwater at home becomes an issue, it also has uses out in the mission field. Â Seriously, if I were a missionary and lived in an area with questionable water, I would have one of these in my triage kit. Â You can use any size reservoirs…from nalgene bottles to buckets (your creativity is the only limiting factor). Â Since the unit works on gravity all you need to remember is to put the non potable water higher than the potable water bucket.
It cost $100 and makes 5 gallons of purified water in approximately 45 minutes.
