What You Believe: Jesus

I have been considering the topic of ‘what you believe’ for some time now.  Recognizing that we have over 6,000 High School students within an 8 mile radius of our church one has to consider where they stand respect to eternity, God, Jesus, and moral values.  This particular post will deal with What You Believe: Jesus.

When we consider this, we first must state that what you believe shapes you, it motivates you…it gives you purpose.  Take a look at how the Apostles changed once they saw Jesus crucified and mores specifically how they reacted when they saw the resurrected Christ in person.

They were changed.  How were they changed…they were changed because they saw the work of Christ.  They saw in totality what He came to do.  They had no idea that they were part of God’s plan to spread the good news…that was coming up next.

Applying this to our High School students, I wonder if they really know the power of Jesus.  Do they know the same Jesus who inspired the Apostles to spread the good news is the same Jesus who we commit our lives to, and radically changes us too?  I am so proud of where our student ministry is going.  Seeing our students respond to the fact that some of their friends don’t know the Lord is inspiring.  On September 16th, our students are going to promote our student ministries at their schools by handing out Dum-Dum lollipops.  Why? Is it to have more students come to our student ministry?  Well, if that’s what they need so that they can come and hear about Christ then yes.  In all honesty they are inviting their friends to church because Christ has made a difference in their lives, and they want their friends to experience this same difference.  It’s hard to promote something that is not true in your own life.  So join us as we pray for our High School and Middle School missionaries for September 16th.  No doubt God will be glorified.  Imagine what can happen if just a few sold out people did something for Jesus.  I wonder if the Apostles ever asked themselves that question?
