I have been considering the topic of ‘what you believe’ for some time now. Â Recognizing that we have over 6,000 High School students within an 8 mile radius of our church one has to consider where they stand respect to eternity, God, Jesus, and moral values. Â This particular post will deal with What You Believe: Jesus.
When we consider this, we first must state that what you believe shapes you, it motivates you…it gives you purpose. Â Take a look at how the Apostles changed once they saw Jesus crucified and mores specifically how they reacted when they saw the resurrected Christ in person.
They were changed. Â How were they changed…they were changed because they saw the work of Christ. Â They saw in totality what He came to do. Â They had no idea that they were part of God’s plan to spread the good news…that was coming up next.
Applying this to our High School students, I wonder if they really know the power of Jesus. Â Do they know the same Jesus who inspired the Apostles to spread the good news is the same Jesus who we commit our lives to, and radically changes us too? Â I am so proud of where our student ministry is going. Â Seeing our students respond to the fact that some of their friends don’t know the Lord is inspiring. Â On September 16th, our students are going to promote our student ministries at their schools by handing out Dum-Dum lollipops. Â Why? Is it to have more students come to our student ministry? Â Well, if that’s what they need so that they can come and hear about Christ then yes. Â In all honesty they are inviting their friends to church because Christ has made a difference in their lives, and they want their friends to experience this same difference. Â It’s hard to promote something that is not true in your own life. Â So join us as we pray for our High School and Middle School missionaries for September 16th. Â No doubt God will be glorified. Â Imagine what can happen if just a few sold out people did something for Jesus. Â I wonder if the Apostles ever asked themselves that question?
