Today we kicked off our very first Impact Student group. This group of 20 students is going to change the world. Â We sent 60 invitations to students and only had 20 complete the application and actually show up. Â I like this…it’s God’s way of working it out. Â So what is Impact Students? Â Well it’s simply a group of students who are the special forces of student ministry. Â They are the ones who are clearly called by God to minister where they are at right now. Â The goal of this group isn’t to simply teach some leadership ideas and read a few verses. Â This group is going to change the world…starting with our own back yard.
While it is true that they are poised to go on at least one of the three missions trips we have planned this summer and possible summer camp, the bulk of their impact will be in Union County to the extend of Indian Land, SC.  We are planning a huge event on March 31st where the Impact Students are going to recruit volunteers to help promote Easter Services at Southbrook Church.  By the way if you are interested in helping go HERE…you can sign up (students only). We anticipate reaching close to 2,500 homes.  How are we going to do this…by putting out door hangers.  It’s something a group of brave students from our church learned this summer while visiting Riverbank Church (click here to read about our trip this summer).  Outside of the application, we are going to be studying Spiritual Leadership by J. Oswald Sanders.  This book is just about the best book (in my opinion) on this topic.  There will be a few book reports, some minor work…but in the end these students will hopefully begin to refine the call on their lives.  My prayer honestly, is that this become a catalyst for many great things in their lives; more specifically, that God uses this to pin point exactly what it is that He wants to do in their lives.  I can’t wait for the years to come!
