After a year off, I decided to venture back into road racing. Â It’s been hard not participating in any marathons over the past year…but the timing was off. Â Now that we have been in NC for over a year, we have found our normal rhythm and I have gotten back into endurance running. Â I decided to sign up for the 10 mile race because it was NOT a full marathon ( legs are not there yet) and its a fun distance. Â Now it must be understood that I do not have a runners build…I am 6′-1″, flat footed, and weigh 205 lbs…not your average thin clad. Â I do have determination so I suppose that counts for something.
The course was very hilly and somewhat cold. Â Overall we kept a brisk pace. Â My lead favorite part of the course was mile 8…that’s where we ascended up the highest hill…I dubbed it the spiral staircase. Â My favorite part of the course was the last mile…all down hill and straight shot.
