We have an incredible summer planned for the students. Â We started our planning last August (of 2011) and are less than a month away from summer. Â Summers are incredible…they help us decompress from the normal school cycle, they help us transition for academic growth and they help us in the area of relationship building. Â I personally will be meeting with our impact students and a bunch of summer interns beginning this June. Â My Wednesdays will be filled with meetings and times of listening. Why would I devote an entire day to meeting with students? Because relationships matter.
For some of the students that I meet with, this summer could be the change that is needed in their life that will propel their spiritual life to where God wants it. Â This summer could be the summer that they identify God’s will for their life. Â This summer could be the one that they see the importance of evangelism and ultimately invite lost friends to church. Â The possibilities are endless. Â All I know is that my goal as a student pastor is to not simply help our students cross the finish line of High School; My goal is to help students transition into their young adult years while all the while valuing the local church and the truth of God’s Word.
This is why we do summer programs. Â This is why we spend time and resources on students in the summer. Â Over the next few days I plan to write some details for each event and give some insight into why we are doing it. Â Please consider joining me for this discussion.
